Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • Custom Build PC

With my first job out of college, I got myself the best parts I could afford and built my own PC. It has an Intel Core i5-12600K, 32GB of RAM(G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB DDR4 2 Modules 3200 MT/s), a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, and a 1TB AORUS NVMe Gen4 M.2 SSD. I use this for gaming as well.

  • AOC Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor 34 3440x1440

This monitor is a game-changer for productivity. I can have multiple windows open side by side and still have enough space to work on each window. Sadly it started showing signs of “I need replacement” after 2-3 years of use so I'm looking to replace it with the updated model.

  • KBDFans custom made keyboard

I builded and assembled this keyboard myself. It has a 65% layout, NK_ CREAM switches (not recommended), and a custom keycap set.

  • Razer Viper V2 Pro

Razer's peripherals haven't disappointed me yes. Great mouse overall and the wireless feature is a plus.

  • Andra Seat XL

I got swayed by the gaming chair hype and got myseld this chair. If you ask me, look for a good ergonomic chair instead of a gaming chair. It will cost more but it's worth it. This one is comfortable but I can't sit on it for long hours.

Development tools

  • Neovim

My go to text editor. I have customized it again, and again, and again over the years and I have got it to a point where I can't use any other text editor.

  • Kitty/Alacritty

I use many terminal emulators but these two are my favorite. Each one of them has its own pros and cons. Kitty is more feature-rich and Alacritty is faster.

Design

  • Figma

99.9% of the design I work on is done in Figma. Very nice tool and the developer mode helps a lot.

Productivity

  • Obsidian/Neorg

I take notes in Obsidian and Neorg. I use Obsidian for long-form notes and Neorg for quick notes. The nice part of Neorg is that it is a plugin for Neovim so I don't have to switch between apps.
